How to create an effective Social Media calendar:

As mentioned so many times before, a Social Media schedule is critical. It keeps you focus on your goal and (personally) keeps you motivated. Here are a few tips that I use to plan my Social Media calendar:

Themes- Create a monthly theme and work around it. If you are a lifestyle brand then you can use public holidays, awareness months, school holidays, etc. For example, if you are a cosmetic brand then you can use valentine’s day for February, Breast Cancer Awareness month for October, summer for January and Christmas for December. Getting where I am going with this?

Topics- Once you have a specific theme you can narrow it down to a topic. This helps you to de-clutter your Social Media. For example. Using the theme “Summer” for January, you can choose topics for each week- work around four- five topics a month. “The perfect color this summer”, “The Summer must-haves” etc.

Look and Feel- Your look and feel should be consistent with each post you make. I use Canva for work to design my own posts- it is quick and easy to use. Try to use the same design technique, in this way your followers will get to know your brand without even have to look at the name, and remember to ALWAYS put your logo in.

Schedule- One of the reasons I like working with Social Media is that you can plan and schedule your posts. There is a schedule option when you want to publish your post, so if you are planning to go on holiday then you can pre-schedule all your posts in that time. For me, it takes a lot of workload off my back and can I focus on another project.

I like to keep things simple and keeps to what works best for me. You will maybe find that you have another strategy that works best for you.
